For your consideration we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored 1937 Senior Maxima Parker Double Jewel Golden Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen & Pencil Set. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.
The NIB, Feed, Section and Breather Tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Feather Split Arrow Clip, Chevron Cap (///\\\) Banding, 14K Parker NIB, and bottom tassel. I have Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Golden Pearl color is simply beautiful with a rich golden color. The cap has the Feather Split Arrow Gold Filled Clip with the Chevron Cap Banding that displays no brassing but shows some minor wear. The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the cap, barrel and blind cap of the fountain pen and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is clearly & crispy stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. with date code 7 (for 1937) in the 3rd Quarter". The blind cap securely fits. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.
This Parker Maxima Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit that was produced for 2nd Generation Vacumatic and works flawlessly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 8-11 presses to fill 7/8 full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.
This Parker NIB is a Two-Tone 14K Gold with a medium/broad point that measures .90mm when measures with digital calipers. The Nib is a marriage to the barrel as the date codes match. The Two-Tone nib is something pretty spectacular - collectors have a hard time ever finding a nib this clean with the platinum coating intact as much as this one does. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium to broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .89mm to a 1.11mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
The matching Sr. Maxima Pencil is a match to the fountain pen. The date codes match, 1937 in Q3. The pencil works as it was originally intended to.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.
This vintage Parker Vacumatic Senior Maxima Fountain Pen & Pencil is a classic, sleek, and refined set with Gorgeous Golden Pearl Celluloid. This set really makes a statement and doesn't get much better than this, especially with the dates matching on the nib, pen, & pencil. I would consider this Maxima Set to be in Excellent Condition that is ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
